A leading global trading and technology firm is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for building the systems that power electronic trading and quantitative strategies. This role focuses on designing and developing highly performant backend applications that sit close to the trading process and directly impact live decision-making.
What you'll be doing- Design, build and optimise high-performance backend systems and trading infrastructure
- Develop applications that process large volumes of real-time market and trading data
- Partner closely with traders and quantitative researchers to implement new models and trading capabilities
- Own projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering through to production deployment
- Contribute to architecture decisions and performance improvements across a complex trading ecosystem
- Work alongside infrastructure and engineering teams to build scalable, resilient systems supporting global trading operations
- Direct impact on live trading and investment outcomes
- Highly collaborative environment with engineers, quants and traders working side-by-side

- Strong commercial experience building high-performance backend systems
- Exceptional programming skills in any modern language including but not limited to C++, Java, C#, Rust, Go or Python
- Deep understanding of:
- Object-oriented design and software architecture
- Concurrency and multithreading
- Performance optimisation and profiling
- Distributed systems and scalable infrastructure
- Experience building low-latency, real-time or mission-critical applications
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work closely with both technical and business stakeholders
- Exposure to Linux environments and systems-level engineering is advantageous
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or another highly quantitative discipline
- Experience within trading, market making or order routing systems is beneficial, though not essential for exceptional engineers coming from other high-performance environments.
