Deutsche Bank poached a Barclays high yield trader amidst hiring excitement

If you're a high yield trader in London, you may have received several calls from headhunters this summer. It's been a busy time. At least six traders have shifted seats.

The latest among them is Rihan Dewan, a high yield trader who spent three years at Barclays after three years at HSBC and who is now joining Deutsche Bank. Both Deutsche Bank and Barclays declined to comment.

Dewan's exit is the latest in a chain of London high yield moves that have happened since June. Others include: Kieran De Villemeur, who left BNP Paribas in April and is now at Barclays; Gajern Kailavasan, who left Deutsche Bank in June and is joining BofA; Chris Telfer, who left RBC in May and who joined Athlone Investment Management; Fabian Berg, who left Citi and Sean George who left JPMorgan.

Traders in the market say the high talent pool has been depleted by buy-side hiring. "It's become very easy to make risk adjusted money from high yield in Europe," says one. "As money has flowed in, funds have hired to put it to work."

Hiring has been particularly strong amid mid-level traders who are the next generation of talent in banks. "Everyone want someone with some experience, who knows how to trade who can bring client relationships with them," says one insider.
